At the end of October, the coveted FSC® Furniture Awards 2022 for sustainable furniture were once again presented. Under the motto “Better living, healthy forests”, the FSC® honoured companies in the European furniture industry for their commitment to sustainability. The award ceremony took place at the ADI Design Museum in Milan. Following the award in the “Office Furniture” category last year, the Neumarkt-based family business Hammerbacher was once again delighted to receive a major accolade: the jury chose Hammerbacher as “Manufacturer of the year – Indoor”.
Laudatory speech/award ceremony:
“The award winners have demonstrated their exceptional commitment to the sustainability of their raw materials,” said Alexia Schrott, Marketing Manager of FSC® Italy and Furniture Awards Project Manager. “They have chosen FSC certification to prove this and FSC® recognises their commitment with these awards.”
Reforestation project in Uganda
“We already committed ourselves to the values of the FSC® more than 10 years ago” explains Managing Director Christoph Hammerbacher, “since then all our wood products have been FSC® certified.” This year, the company was able to take its activities for the mission “Forests for all Forever” to a new level by supporting the restoration or reforestation of 250 ha of degraded land in Uganda as part of a long-term project. “The award as ‘Manufacturer of the year’ confirms us in what we are doing,” Christoph Hammerbacher sees the company on the right path.
